Laboratory Safety Protocols

Safety is the highest priority at the Cullen College of Engineering. All members must complete mandatory training before accessing fabrication equipment.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes are strictly required at all times while in the lab. Loose clothing and long hair must be secured when operating power tools or soldering stations.

LiPo Battery Handling

All Lithium Polymer (LiPo) batteries used for our drones and rovers must be charged inside fireproof safety bags. Never leave a charging battery unattended. Punctured or swollen batteries must be reported to a lab manager immediately.

Machining & Fabrication

Only members who have passed the official shop safety certification are permitted to operate the CNC mills, lathes, and heavy machinery. Always ensure emergency stop buttons are accessible.
